INSPIRING TECHNOLOGY REVOLUTION IN TANZANIA

‘We have decided to change and want to be like what Chinese are, we know we can.  We have our vision, we have our goals and objectives to follow and we are determined to win!’
Our country is now flooded with the technology products from all over the world, among these products are Chinese, currently our country import everything from highly complicated technology products such as aircrafts to the least significant items such as toothpicks and ear cleaning cotton sticks. Chinese have managed to affect every individual being in our country, even unborn children in wombs of their mothers sometimes their survival is influenced by the Chinese brain workers.
This situation is not an accident, it is a planned situation, Chinese people have been working under support of their government, which had specific strategies to support their brain workers and facilitate them with resources required to transfer every technology they wanted, as a result was numerous industries that have proved great success in the Chinese economy.
We Tanzanians can be like Chinese too, we can do what Chinese did to  reach where they are, and through the same stages Chinese passed, we can take our nation to the great heights of our continent in the field of science research and technology development. This will be possible only if we start now and put politics aside, the future of our nation is in our own hands, we can change it if we want, or we can continue playing dirty games and blaming other nationals for conquering our economy.
 While intense competitions together with a rapidly advancing technology have produced many changes in the pattern and outlook of industries nearly all over the world,  in which new products are continually being developed, and continual effort are put in place to reduce or stabilize manufacturing costs thus making increased resources utilization an economic necessity, in our country, the challenge of rural poverty, where the majority of the poorest people still live is massive and is magnified by the lack of capitals and appropriate technology; This has caused our country to be market of everything, we have reached a stage that some people believe  that nothing good may come out from Tanzanians in terms of science and technology.
As a nation, we have to bring together different performers (geniuses and experts in various fields of science and technology, the highly qualified University College Graduates and Entrepreneurs) in all walks of life and provide them a platform for conducting scientific researches, and develop technologies that promote economic growth, home improvement, and protect our environments. This effort should involve all the people who have passion with development of science and technology in our country and are ready to contribute to its development and make things happen, even though they are not engineers or scientists.
We have to apply multi-disciplinary approaches to both, advance knowledge through basic research and create innovative technologies that address current practical problems through applied research.  All Stakeholders (government, industry, and academia) have to work in partnership to transfer essential technologies and fill the gap of science & technology between our country and our challengers and create strategic surprise by facilitating the technological superiority of our Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Great emphasis should be to empower Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) by providing scientific and technological support to develop and manufacture quality technology products and establish successful businesses that will compete equally in the local and international markets, hence driving our country towards sustainable growth and quality jobs.
What Chinese have done is not magic; it is the result of their vision, commitment, determination and focus on science and technology. We believe that we have a plenty of gold and Tanzanite to dig from talents of our people than any available mining operations on earth. So let us start digging now!

If it was possible to Chinese why not to us?
ITS POSSIBLE FOR US TOO, LET US WOKE UP NOW

Three Things Our Country Needs to Develop

In this world of economic competitions and rapidly changing technology, many poor countries found themselves in tight Corner where they have no choice other than consuming whatever their bosses want them to even if sometimes they may not be happy.  This situation in many of these countries has become a result of weak leadership and inadequate policies and bad governance.The countries have become dumps of fake products and many of their natural resources are being transferred to the other countries leaving their people a deep poverty.

But why are these countries poor? no doubt every body if asked the same question would give different answer according to one's knowledge and general understanding background. To me, I think before one can comment on the question he/she must first understand what are the major ingredients to bring development to a country. on my opinion there are three basic things which when blended together will make a sustainable development;
  1. Adequate policies and good governance
  2. Technology
  3. Natural resources
Ingredient number one is the most important of all because if it is not there, nothing tangible can be achieved even if all rivers in the country flows milk and honey, ingredient number three is the last of the three, one may wonder why this is the last while everybody knows how the natural resources contribute to the development of the poor countries, this may sound good but if this was true, then countries like Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo e.t.c would be among the richest countries in the world.

By saying this I dont mean that natural resources are not important for the development, NO. But I want to emphasize the vital importance of the frequently neglected ingredient in the combination, that is technology. To explain that, consider the combination of the three above in groups of two as follows
  1. Adequate policies, good governance and technology without natural resources
  2. Adequate policies, good governance and natural resources without technology
  3. Technology and natural resources without adequate policies and good governance
Think of the three combination;

Combination 1; There are many countries in the world which have no plenty of natural resources as our countries do have, but they have good governance and appropriate technology, these countries are very far in terms of development than our countries which have every thing

Combination 2; A few years after independence many African governments were struggling to develop their countries using the so called  adequate policies, they committed all their natural resources but they failed because they had no technology to speed up productions and conversion of their raw materials to the finished products. many of these countries ended up in civil war.

Combination 3;  The third combination attracts civil war and generally speaking is not practical

Form the combinations, i here by conclude that in order to develop our country we must blend all the three ingredients i.e.natural resources, adequate policies, good governance and appropriete technology together to get development

Of all the three in this information age, technology must be given priority over natural resources

Technology Development - All That We Need Is Change Our Mindset

Intense competitions together with a rapidly advancing technology have wrought many changes in the pattern and outlook of industries. New products are continually being developed, new techniques, processes, systems, and methods are being applied, automation has become a necessity and continual effort are put in place to reduce or stabilize manufacturing costs in spite of rising materials and labor costs thus making increased resources utilization an economic necessity.

Hence, with acquaintance with the progress of science and appropriate technologies, we have no doubt of the value of fundamental scientific development; from this, it follows that we cannot wholly disinterest ourselves from it. Therefore, as a poor nation we have to engage our selves wholly into acquiring and transfer of technology from other countries, and adapt those to our own needs, parallel to that carrying out of our own fundamental research. Finally, we have to initiate our own industrial designing

To be successful in this aspect, we need to take proper measures now setting foundation for our country’s development.  To lead this very important move, here forth I bring an idea that I strongly believe with all my heart that it will take our country to the great heights of science research and technology development in not only EAC, but also the whole Africa by 2025

Our leaders are wondering all over the world seeking investors to invest in various sectors such as industrial manufacturing and agriculture.  Bad luck is that our government is willing even to slaughter its own people for the benefits of these foreign investors, the cost that our government is investing to please these investors can be realized in their contracts and exemptions. They are too much for our economy and benefits they earn from our resources. Many people have lost their fertile land and their mineral lands to these investors,

In this area our government it is not very careful, may be they do not know because of ignorance or they mind their business, we are just dancing the song of investment so that other people see us dancing but we are off beats.  Not all benefits that our leaders preach with proud are real and if any, the first beneficial are the investors and rulers themselves.

Some of claims are that investments brings new technologies to our country, they create employments and pay many taxes to the government and brings in dollars by exporting their products. If you examine closely on all the benefits mentioned above you will discover that they are not benefiting much to the majority of our people in rural areas and urban. Because these investors are coming here to make the maximum money possible and can do any thing in their power to make sure they earn what they want. Our interests are not their priorities.

What I believe is that despite the very importance of the foreign investors and their benefits, our country should take extreme measures to acquire/transfer and develop our own simple but appropriate technologies that can be afforded by our farmers groups.  That can help them process their produces locally in their area and not to leave to a few foreign investors who force them out of their land and left aside wondering. This type of investments without empowering our people will not help our nation out of poverty but a few investors and politicians will benefits. I agree 100% that we need technology if we want to develop, what I disagree is the strategy used which is driving us further into poverty though in a modern style that we feel honored, we feel important yet we sink.

I my self, have been working hard for more than 15 years to find means that if employed successfully to bring the talented people of our country together to develop essential technologies, that will solve the practical problems of people such as lack of proper technologies of food processing and preservations which is a great hindrance to our famers since they can not keep any long their products especially those highly perishable.

 I here come forward to argue all those who feel that we can start now together to turn our own wheel to join me and support this move!
